UKT-CART19.1 is an autologous, CD19-directed chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by the University Hospital Tübingen (Universitätsklinikum Tübingen). It is designed to target and deplete B cells expressing the CD19 surface antigen, which play a central role in the pathogenesis of various autoimmune diseases. By eliminating these pathogenic B cells, the therapy aims to reset the immune system and induce long-term remission in patients with refractory autoimmune conditions. The drug is currently being evaluated in a Phase I/II basket trial for a range of indications, including systemic sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, and multiple sclerosis.
