Overview

Ulacamten (CK-586) is a selective, small-molecule cardiac myosin inhibitor developed by Cytokinetics for the treatment of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). It functions as a negative allosteric modulator of cardiac myosin, reducing the number of myosin-actin cross-bridges that form during contraction. This mechanism targets the myocardial hypercontractility and impaired relaxation that are hallmarks of HFpEF. Ulacamten is currently in Phase 2 clinical development, with the AMBER-HFpEF trial evaluating its safety and efficacy in patients with this condition.
