Ularitide is a synthetic peptide drug that mimics urodilatin, a naturally occurring human natriuretic peptide produced in the kidney. Ularitide acts as an agonist of the natriuretic peptide receptor-A (NPR-A), leading to increased production of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). This results in vasodilation, diuresis, and natriuresis, as well as inhibition of the renin–angiotensin–aldosterone system. Ularitide is being developed primarily for acute decompensated heart failure and has also been investigated for acute kidney injury, liver cirrhosis, and pulmonary arterial hypertension. It is administered intravenously and has shown beneficial hemodynamic effects without significant early adverse impact on renal function[1][2][3][4][5].
