Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Ulcer Disease vaccine (Fish) is a veterinary vaccine currently under development by Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL) for use in the aquaculture industry. Developed in partnership with various Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) institutes, the vaccine is designed to provide protective immunity against the pathogens that cause ulcerative diseases in fish, which are a major source of economic loss in Indian fisheries. The project is part of IIL's strategic expansion into aquatic health, which began in late 2022. While specific details regarding the vaccine's formulation and the exact causative agents targeted have not been fully disclosed, it is reported to be in an advanced stage of development and aims to reduce mortality and morbidity in fish populations through active immunization.
