ulinastatin + human serum albumin is a combination therapeutic regimen primarily investigated for the treatment of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). Ulinastatin, a glycoprotein purified from human urine, serves as a broad-spectrum protease inhibitor that targets enzymes such as trypsin, chymotrypsin, and neutrophil elastase. By inhibiting these proteases, ulinastatin reduces the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-alpha, IL-6) and prevents organ damage. Human serum albumin (HSA) is a major plasma protein that maintains oncotic pressure, acts as a carrier for various molecules, and possesses antioxidant properties. In the context of SIRS, the combination is used to stabilize hemodynamics, reduce capillary permeability, and modulate the hyperinflammatory state. This combination has been notably studied in clinical trials led by Beijing Chaoyang Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University.
