ulinastatin + human serum albumin is a combination therapeutic regimen primarily investigated for the treatment of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). Ulinastatin, a glycoprotein purified from human urine, serves as a broad-spectrum protease inhibitor that targets enzymes such as trypsin, chymotrypsin, and neutrophil elastase. By inhibiting these proteases, ulinastatin reduces the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g., TNF-alpha, IL-6) and prevents organ damage. Human serum albumin (HSA) is a major plasma protein that maintains oncotic pressure, acts as a carrier for various molecules, and possesses antioxidant properties. In the context of SIRS, the combination is used to stabilize hemodynamics, reduce capillary permeability, and modulate the hyperinflammatory state.
