Combination therapy of **ulinastatin** (a Kunitz-type protease inhibitor) and **thymosin α1** (a thymic peptide immunomodulator). Ulinastatin inhibits pro-inflammatory proteases and suppresses the production of proinflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), reducing systemic inflammation. Thymosin α1 enhances T cell-mediated immunity and modulates immune response, primarily through stimulation of lymphocyte proliferation and augmentation of immune function. Together, these agents are investigated as an immunomodulatory therapy for severe sepsis and septic shock, aiming to improve survival rates, decrease inflammatory cytokines, reduce mechanical ventilation duration, and improve organ function scores. The combination has shown a significant reduction in short-term mortality and favorable trends in clinical trials, especially for sepsis due to carbapenem-resistant bacteria[1][2][3][4][6].
