Overview

Ulixacaltamide is a differentiated and highly selective small molecule inhibitor of T-type calcium channels, designed to block abnormal neuronal burst firing in the Cerebello-Thalamo-Cortical (CTC) circuit correlated with tremor activity. It is being developed by Praxis Precision Medicines as an oral tablet for the treatment of essential tremor and is currently in Phase 3 clinical trials. Ulixacaltamide acts by selectively inhibiting T-type calcium channels, which are key regulators of neuronal firing patterns implicated in movement disorders such as essential tremor. The drug was also previously under development for Parkinson's disease and absence seizures[1][3][4][5][7].
