Drug intelligence / Profile preview
UltraEZ is a sustained-release desensitizing gel developed and manufactured by Ultradent Products. It is formulated with 3% potassium nitrate and 0.25% neutral sodium fluoride (0.11% fluoride ion) to provide rapid and long-lasting relief from tooth sensitivity (dentin hypersensitivity). The gel works via a dual mechanism of action: potassium nitrate depolarizes the membranes of intradental nerve fibers to block pain transmission, while sodium fluoride promotes remineralization of the enamel and occludes exposed dentinal tubules to prevent fluid movement. UltraEZ is cleared as a medical device by the FDA and is commonly used before or after in-office tooth bleaching, as well as for general sensitivity caused by toothbrush abrasion, root exposure, or thermal and chemical changes.
