ultraIPV is an experimental inactivated polio vaccine (IPV) candidate developed by Biological Mimetics using a proprietary UVC-based inactivation platform. Traditional IPV production typically relies on formaldehyde for viral inactivation, a process that is time-consuming and can potentially damage critical antigenic epitopes, thereby reducing the vaccine's immunogenicity. The ultraIPV platform utilizes ultraviolet-C (UVC) light to rapidly inactivate the poliovirus while preserving its native structural integrity and antigenic potency. This approach is designed to produce a more effective vaccine with a more efficient and scalable manufacturing profile. The candidate is currently in the IND-enabling stage for the prevention of poliomyelitis.
