UM-1490 is a cannabinoid-based therapeutic candidate originally developed by the University of Mississippi. In 2015, Nemus Bioscience (now Skye Bioscience) entered into an exclusive option agreement to conduct due diligence and potentially license the asset. UM-1490 is characterized as a cannabinoid extract specifically formulated for transmucosal delivery. While specific clinical indications were not extensively publicized, cannabinoid extracts of this nature are typically investigated for the management of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV), chronic pain, or appetite stimulation. The drug functions by modulating the endocannabinoid system, primarily through the activation of cannabinoid receptors. Following the option period, the developer's focus shifted toward synthetic cannabinoid prodrugs, and UM-1490 does not appear in the current active pipelines of its former partners.
