Overview

Umbilical cord acellular suspension (UCAS) is a regenerative biologic product derived from human umbilical cord tissue, processed to remove all cellular components while retaining a high concentration of bioactive molecules. Developed primarily by Vitti Labs, UCAS contains a complex milieu of growth factors (such as VEGF, PDGF, and TGF-β), anti-inflammatory cytokines (including IL-10 and IL-1ra), hyaluronic acid, and extracellular matrix proteins. Its mechanism of action involves modulating the immune response, reducing pro-inflammatory signaling, and providing a scaffold and signaling environment conducive to endogenous tissue repair and regeneration. It is typically administered via local injection or intravenous infusion and has been investigated in clinical trials for conditions characterized by severe inflammation or tissue degradation, such as COVID-19-related acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and knee osteoarthritis.
