Umbilical cord blood-derived megakaryocyte injection (XJ-01) is a first-in-class cell therapy developed by Xueji Biopharma for the treatment of chemotherapy-induced thrombocytopenia (CIT). The therapy consists of mature megakaryocytes derived from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) found in umbilical cord blood, which are expanded and differentiated *ex vivo*. Unlike traditional platelet transfusions that provide a short-term increase in platelet levels, this injection delivers the precursor cells responsible for platelet production. Once administered, these megakaryocytes are designed to home to the patient's bone marrow and continuously release functional platelets into the bloodstream, potentially offering a more rapid and durable recovery of platelet counts and reducing the risk of bleeding in patients with bone marrow suppression.
