This cell therapy product consists of allogeneic human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUC-MSCs) derived from Wharton's jelly. It is being investigated by Jie Shen in collaboration with Shenzhen Beike Biotechnology for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) and peripheral arterial disease (PAD). The therapy functions through paracrine signaling, secreting pro-angiogenic factors like vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and fibroblast growth factor (FGF), which promote revascularization and tissue repair. Additionally, these cells exhibit immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties, helping to resolve the chronic inflammatory state associated with non-healing diabetic wounds. In clinical studies, the cells have been administered via both intravenous infusion and topical application to the ulcer site.
