Overview

A combination therapy consisting of human umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) and a collagen scaffold. UC-MSCs are multipotent stromal cells isolated from the umbilical cord, known for their high proliferative capacity, low immunogenicity, and ability to differentiate into various cell types. The collagen scaffold serves as a biocompatible matrix that provides structural support and enhances cell delivery to target tissues. This combination is designed for regenerative medicine applications; it promotes tissue repair through paracrine signaling (secretion of growth factors and cytokines), immunomodulation, anti-apoptotic effects, and direct differentiation into local cell types. Preclinical studies have shown efficacy in endometrial regeneration (restoring fertility after intrauterine adhesions) and spinal cord injury (promoting neurological recovery). The mechanism involves both the physical support of the scaffold for cellular engraftment and the biological activity of UC-MSCs in modulating inflammation, promoting proliferation of endogenous cells, inhibiting apoptosis, supporting angiogenesis, and remodeling extracellular matrix[1][2].
