Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy consisting of **umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs)** and their **secretomes** (the complex mixture of paracrine bioactive factors secreted by the cells, including cytokines, chemokines, growth factors, and extracellular vesicles such as exosomes). UC-MSCs possess potent immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and regenerative properties, attributed both to direct cell actions and the activity of the secretome. The secretome mediates effects in tissue repair, modulation of the immune response, angiogenesis, and anti-apoptotic processes. Clinical and preclinical studies demonstrate therapeutic potential in a range of diseases, including autoimmune, inflammatory, neurodegenerative disorders, tissue injury, and wound healing. The secretome offers unique advantages over cell therapy, such as ease of storage, reduced tumorigenicity risk, and potential for off-the-shelf use. The combination approach aims to maximize therapeutic benefit by harnessing both cell and cell-free mechanisms[1][2].
