Overview

Umbilical cord tissue-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (hCT-MSCs) are an allogeneic cellular therapy product manufactured from digested umbilical cord tissue. These cells are expanded in culture and cryopreserved for therapeutic use. hCT-MSCs are characterized by their ability to secrete paracrine factors that modulate humoral and cell-mediated immune responses, including the inhibition of T-cell, B-cell, NK-cell, and microglial proliferation, as well as the reduction of pro-inflammatory cytokine production. They are being investigated for a variety of conditions, including cerebral palsy, where they may promote neuroprotection and endogenous brain repair, and knee osteoarthritis, where they aim to improve the joint environment by reducing inflammation and supporting chondrocyte health.
