Overview

UMC119-01 is an allogeneic cell therapy consisting of umbilical cord-derived mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs), developed by Meridigen Biotech. It is primarily being investigated for the prevention and treatment of bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) in premature infants at high risk for the condition. The therapeutic rationale is based on the immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and regenerative properties of MSCs, which are thought to mitigate the lung injury caused by hyperoxia and mechanical ventilation. By secreting various paracrine factors, these cells help reduce pulmonary inflammation and promote the repair of alveolar and vascular structures in the developing neonatal lung.
