UMC119-10 is an allogeneic cell therapy candidate developed by Meridigen Biotech Corp., consisting of mesenchymal stem cells derived from the human umbilical cord (UC-MSCs). It is currently in preclinical development for the treatment of cerebral palsy (CP). The therapeutic rationale for UMC119-10 involves the ability of UC-MSCs to home to damaged neural tissues and release a cocktail of paracrine factors, including neurotrophic factors and anti-inflammatory cytokines. These factors are intended to mitigate neuroinflammation, provide neuroprotection to surviving neurons, and stimulate endogenous neural repair and plasticity, thereby potentially improving motor function and quality of life in patients with CP.
