UMIPIC (Ultra-Minimum Incision Personalized Intratumoral Chemoimmunotherapy) is a proprietary local-regional cancer treatment modality developed by Dr. Baofa Yu and the Shandong Baofa Cancer Institute. The procedure involves the direct intratumoral injection of a personalized cocktail of chemotherapeutic agents (such as cytarabine, cisplatin, or adriamycin) combined with an oxidant (typically hydrogen peroxide) and a coagulant. This combination is designed to create a slow-release drug depot within the tumor, inducing local tumor necrosis and the subsequent release of tumor-associated antigens. This process is intended to stimulate a systemic anti-tumor immune response, effectively acting as an in situ vaccine. UMIPIC is primarily used for the treatment of various solid tumors, including esophageal, lung, liver, and pancreatic cancers, and is often administered in combination with low-dose radiotherapy to enhance clinical outcomes.
