Overview

UMN-0501 is a novel pandemic influenza vaccine developed for the prevention of avian influenza, specifically targeting the H5N1 subtype. It is manufactured using cell culture technology and employs a recombinant protein approach via the Baculovirus Expression Vector System (BEVS), rather than traditional egg-based methods. The vaccine contains recombinant haemagglutinin (rHA) as its active component and functions as an immunostimulant to elicit protective immune responses against H5N1 avian influenza. Clinical trials have demonstrated favorable immunogenicity and tolerability in Phase II studies. The drug has also been referenced under code name ASP7373 in clinical development[1][2][3][4].
