Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Umune is an individualized autologous bacterial vaccine (autovaccine) developed and marketed by Laboratorios Q Pharma. It is a personalized immunotherapy product custom-manufactured for each patient using specific bacterial strains isolated from their own clinical samples, such as urine or respiratory secretions. The vaccine consists of inactivated bacteria and is typically administered as a sublingual spray. It is primarily indicated for the prevention and treatment of recurrent infections, most notably recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTIs) and recurrent respiratory tract infections, particularly in patients who have not responded adequately to conventional antibiotic therapy. By exposing the patient's immune system to inactivated versions of the specific pathogens causing their chronic illness, Umune aims to induce a targeted immune response, thereby reducing the frequency and severity of subsequent infectious episodes.
