Unadol Spasma

Unadol Spasma is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Uni-Pharma (Syria) for the symptomatic relief of gastrointestinal spasms and associated abdominal pain. It contains paracetamol (acetaminophen), an analgesic and antipyretic, and hyoscine butylbromide (scopolamine butylbromide), a quaternary ammonium antispasmodic agent. Hyoscine butylbromide acts as a competitive antagonist at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors located in the smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal, biliary, and urinary tracts, leading to muscle relaxation and relief from cramping. Paracetamol complements this action by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system, thereby elevating the pain threshold. This combination is commonly used for conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, biliary colic, and renal colic.
