Overview

Unasnemab (formerly known as MT-3921) is a novel humanized immunoglobulin G1 (IgG1) monoclonal antibody that targets repulsive guidance molecule A (RGMa). Developed jointly by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation and Osaka University, it is designed to promote neuroregeneration and inhibit inflammation by blocking RGMa, which is implicated in the inhibition of neuronal survival and axonal growth. Unasnemab has shown potential to improve locomotor function in preclinical models of spinal cord injury. The drug is being developed primarily for the treatment of acute traumatic spinal cord injury, with additional research suggesting possible roles in other neurological diseases such as stroke and multiple sclerosis. It has received FDA Fast Track Designation for spinal cord injury and is currently undergoing Phase 2 clinical trials[1][2][5][6].
