Overview

UNImAb Strep is a therapeutic monoclonal antibody (IgG1) developed by Immunethep, a Portuguese biotechnology company. It targets the extracellular form of bacterial glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase (GAPDH), a conserved virulence factor released by various pathogenic bacteria to evade the host immune system. By neutralizing extracellular bacterial GAPDH without interfering with human GAPDH, UNImAb Strep facilitates the opsonophagocytic clearance of bacteria by the host's immune cells. The drug is specifically designed to treat infections caused by Streptococcus species, including Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus agalactiae (Group B Streptococcus), and Streptococcus pyogenes.
