UNIPlax is a polydeoxyribonucleotide (PDRN) product developed by PLABiologics, derived from human placenta-derived mesenchymal stem cells (hPD-MSCs). The product consists of DNA fragments extracted from hPD-MSCs that are fragmented via sonication to a size range of less than 500 base pairs. Although derived from an MSC platform, UNIPlax is a cell-free biomaterial rather than a live cell therapy. It is designed for tissue regeneration and wound healing applications. Its therapeutic mechanism involves promoting cellular regeneration through Adenosine A2A receptor signaling, which stimulates cell migration, angiogenesis, and the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). Preclinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in promoting wound closure, granulation tissue formation, and collagen deposition.
