Overview

UniVax is a universal SARS-CoV-2 vaccine candidate developed by VaxThera, a company established by Seguros SURA Colombia with an initial investment of $54 million to advance vaccine research, development, and commercialization in Latin America. VaxThera has partnered with Exothera, a Belgium-based CDMO, for the process development, scale-up, and GMP manufacturing of UniVax. This collaboration aims to facilitate the vaccine's progression into Phase 1 clinical trials in the EU. Beyond its primary focus on SARS-CoV-2, VaxThera also plans to develop vaccines for various other tropical diseases.
