Overview

The universal influenza DNA vaccine (also known as UFlu) is a DNA-based prophylactic vaccine being developed by Orlance, Inc. for the prevention of seasonal and pandemic influenza. The vaccine utilizes Orlance's proprietary MACH-1 platform, a needle-free 'gene gun' technology that delivers powdered, DNA-coated microparticles directly into the epidermis, the skin's most immunologically active layer. By encoding conserved influenza antigens that remain consistent across multiple lineages, the vaccine aims to stimulate broad, long-lasting antibody and T-cell responses against a wide range of human, avian, and swine influenza strains. Currently in the IND-enabling stage, the program has received significant funding from the NIH SBIR program to support its advancement toward Phase 1 clinical trials.
