Drug intelligence / Profile preview
UNO (Ultra-high concentration nitric oxide) therapy is an immunotherapeutic being developed by Beyond Cancer, an affiliate of Beyond Air. It utilizes ultra-high concentrations of nitric oxide (NO) delivered via a proprietary platform to treat primary tumors and prevent metastatic disease in solid tumors. This therapy is designed to induce local tumor cell death, which subsequently leads to the release of tumor antigens and the activation of a systemic anti-tumor immune response. UNO has been shown to upregulate cytotoxic T-cells, T-central memory cells, M1 macrophages, and dendritic cells, while simultaneously downregulating immunosuppressive T-regulatory cells and myeloid-derived suppressor cells. Additionally, it can sensitize tumors to checkpoint inhibitors by increasing PD-L1 expression, and has been reported to possess anticancer properties, acting as a chemosensitizer and radiotherapy enhancer.
