Overview

UP-7 is a novel peptide derived from the beta-sheet region of the recombinant kringle domain of urokinase-type plasminogen activator (UK1). It acts as an inhibitor of angiogenesis and tumor metastasis. UP-7 suppresses the phosphorylation of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) and extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) in endothelial cells, thereby inhibiting their proliferation, migration, and attachment to fibronectin. In breast cancer cells (such as MDA-MB-231), UP-7 selectively inhibits proliferation, migration, and invasion by suppressing FAK activation. It has demonstrated efficacy in preclinical models of lung cancer and breast cancer metastasis.
