Overview

UPA-750 is a near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent imaging probe designed for the detection of pancreatic adenocarcinoma. It consists of a urokinase plasminogen activator (uPA) peptide conjugated to the HiLyte-750 NIR dye. The probe specifically targets the urokinase plasminogen activator receptor (uPAR), which is highly expressed in various pancreatic cancer cell lines. UPA-750 is utilized in conjunction with multispectral optoacoustic tomography (MSOT) to identify hypovascularized pancreatic tumors, which are often difficult to detect using conventional contrast agents. Preclinical studies in orthotopic pancreatic cancer xenografts have demonstrated that the probe selectively accumulates in tumor tissue, allowing for enhanced visualization and biodistribution monitoring.
