Overview
The UPA Program is a preclinical-stage small molecule unimolecular poly-agonist being developed by Chengyi Biopharma (also known as Eccogene). The program is designed to simultaneously target and activate three key metabolic receptors: the Glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R), the Glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIPR), and the Amylin receptor (AmylinR). By integrating these three mechanisms into a single small molecule, the therapy aims to achieve superior weight loss and glycemic control for the treatment of metabolic diseases such as obesity and type 2 diabetes, compared to existing single or dual-agonist therapies. As a unimolecular poly-agonist, it offers the potential for synergistic metabolic benefits through a single pharmacological entity.
