Overview

UPCDC10205 is a novel small molecule inhibitor of IL-6-induced STAT3 activation. STAT3 is an oncogenic transcription factor frequently hyper-activated in head and neck cancer, where it promotes gene transcription involved in cancer development, maintenance, and progression. Developed by researchers at the University of Pittsburgh, UPCDC10205 was identified through a screening campaign and lead optimization. Preclinical studies in mice have shown that the compound is widely distributed into tissues, including the brain, and is cleared rapidly, primarily through direct N-glucuronidation. While it demonstrated metabolic stability in liver microsomes, its in vivo bioavailability is approximately 5%.
