UPT-122

UPT-122 is a preclinical-stage therapeutic candidate developed by UPyTher for the treatment of ovarian cancer, specifically targeting peritoneal carcinomatosis. The drug utilizes UPyTher's proprietary supramolecular hydrogel technology, which is based on ureidopyrimidinone (UPy) motifs that enable pH-responsive and shear-thinning properties. This platform is designed for local, intraperitoneal administration, where it forms a drug-depot that provides sustained release of the therapeutic payload directly within the peritoneal cavity. This localized approach aims to achieve high concentrations of the drug at the site of the tumor nodules while significantly reducing systemic exposure and associated side effects. As of early 2024, UPT-122 has demonstrated proof of concept in rodent models of peritoneal cancer.
