Overview

UQP15 is a preclinical-stage siRNA therapeutic developed by BioGene Therapeutics for the treatment of diabetes and obesity. It utilizes "Smart-siRNA" technology to target and silence the mRNA of Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase 1B (PTP1B), a negative regulator of insulin and leptin signaling. The drug is formulated in bioresponsive lipid nanoparticles (bLNPs) and delivered via an intranasal nose-to-brain spray using a Sol-Gel platform. This delivery method is intended to bypass the blood-brain barrier, allowing the siRNA to modulate metabolic pathways within the central nervous system.
