Overview

UR-1505 is a novel small molecule salicylate derivative developed as an immunomodulator for inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. It selectively inhibits T-cell activation by blocking the nuclear factor of activated T cells (NF-AT) DNA-binding activity, leading to reduced T-cell proliferation and decreased cytokine production (notably interleukin 5 and interferon gamma). UR-1505 does not inhibit Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription-induced proliferation but specifically targets the T cell receptor signaling pathway. The drug has been investigated for topical treatment of atopic dermatitis as well as other inflammatory conditions such as psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis, transplant rejection, and inflammatory bowel diseases. Clinical development was led by Palau Pharma under license from Uriach; however, development for all indications has been discontinued[1][2][3][4][6].
