Ural

Ural is an over-the-counter effervescent powder formulated as a urinary alkaliniser. It contains a combination of four active ingredients: sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, sodium citrate, and tartaric acid. The product works by increasing the pH of the urine, making it less acidic. This mechanism provides symptomatic relief from the painful burning sensation associated with mild urinary tract infections (UTIs) and dysuria. Furthermore, Ural is indicated for use in gout therapy, where urinary alkalinisation helps prevent the crystallization of urates and aids in the dissolution of uric acid stones. Originally developed by Abbott and currently marketed by Aspen Pharma, it is intended for oral administration as a lemon-flavored drink. It is important to note that Ural does not possess antibacterial properties and does not treat the underlying cause of an infection.
