Overview
Urcosimod is a lipid-conjugated chemerin peptide agonist of the ChemR23 G-protein coupled receptor. Developed by OKYO Pharma, this investigational drug utilizes a proprietary membrane-anchored-peptide (MAP) technology to enhance its residence time in the ocular environment. It is designed to modulate inflammatory and neuropathic pathways by targeting ChemR23 receptors found on immune and neuronal cells, thereby addressing inflammation and nerve damage. Urcosimod is currently being developed for the treatment of neuropathic corneal pain (NCP) and has also been investigated for dry eye disease (DED).
