Drug intelligence / Profile preview
URG301 is a proprietary, locally delivered formulation of trospium chloride, developed by Urigen Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of acute urinary urgency in women with overactive bladder (OAB). Administered as a vaginal suppository, URG301 is designed to provide rapid relief of urgency symptoms by delivering the active agent directly to the bladder wall via the vaginal mucosa. This localized delivery approach is intended to minimize systemic exposure and the associated anticholinergic side effects, such as dry mouth and constipation, which often limit the tolerability of oral OAB medications. Trospium chloride, the active ingredient, is a quaternary ammonium muscarinic antagonist that blocks acetylcholine at M2 and M3 receptors, leading to detrusor muscle relaxation and increased bladder capacity.
