Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Urinal Forte Probio is an over-the-counter (OTC) dietary supplement developed by Walmark (a subsidiary of STADA) and distributed by Vivapharm. It is formulated as oral capsules designed to support urinary tract health and prevent recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs). The supplement combines two active components: PACran, a patented whole cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) powder rich in proanthocyanidins (PACs), and the probiotic bacterium Lactobacillus rhamnosus. Cranberry proanthocyanidins exert an anti-adhesive effect by binding to the fimbriae of uropathogenic Escherichia coli, preventing their attachment to the uroepithelial walls of the bladder and urethra, thereby facilitating their clearance through urination. Lactobacillus rhamnosus helps restore and maintain a healthy microflora, competing with pathogenic bacteria for adhesion sites and producing antimicrobial substances like lactic acid and bacteriocins, particularly after antibiotic therapy.
