Overview

URLC10 is a peptide antigen derived from the up-regulated lung cancer 10 (LY6K) protein. It is used as a component in synthetic peptide-based therapeutic cancer vaccines designed to stimulate an immune response against tumor cells expressing this antigen. These vaccines are typically formulated with other tumor-associated antigens such as CDCA1 and KOC1, and are administered to patients with cancers like esophageal carcinoma or gastric cancer. The mechanism of action involves immunostimulation—specifically, the activation of cytotoxic T lymphocytes that recognize URLC10-derived peptides presented by HLA-A*2402 or HLA-A*02:01 molecules on tumor cells. Clinical trials have demonstrated safety and some evidence of disease stabilization in advanced cancers refractory to standard therapies.
