Uro-Tainer Suby G

Urotainer Suby G is a sterile, non-pyrogenic catheter maintenance solution developed by B. Braun, designed to prevent and dissolve mineral encrustations on indwelling urinary catheters. The solution is formulated with citric acid, which acts as an acidifying agent to dissolve calcium and magnesium phosphate deposits (such as hydroxyapatite and struvite) that can lead to catheter blockage and provide a niche for bacterial biofilm. To ensure patient safety and comfort, the formulation includes magnesium oxide as a buffering agent, which raises the pH slightly to reduce irritation of the bladder mucosa compared to pure citric acid solutions. It is typically administered via a closed-system irrigation bag to maintain sterility and reduce the risk of catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTIs).
