Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Urocare is a marketed pharmaceutical product developed by MMC Pharmaceuticals under the ZIVA brand, specifically designed for urological health. It is primarily indicated for the prevention and management of urinary tract infections (UTIs) and the prophylaxis of kidney stones (urolithiasis). The product is typically formulated as a combination of potassium magnesium citrate, D-mannose, and cranberry extract. Potassium magnesium citrate acts as a systemic alkalizer, increasing urinary pH and citrate levels, which helps inhibit the crystallization of stone-forming salts like calcium oxalate. D-mannose and cranberry extract (containing proanthocyanidins) function as anti-adhesive agents that prevent pathogens, particularly *Escherichia coli*, from attaching to the urothelial lining of the bladder, thereby facilitating their removal through urine. Urocare is generally available in oral dosage forms such as sachets or liquid solutions.
