Urocell (ICES13) is an autologous cell-based advanced therapy medicinal product (ATMP) developed by Innovacell for the treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) and urinary sphincter insufficiency. The therapy consists of the patient's own (autologous) myoblasts and fibroblasts combined with collagen as a carrier material. It is administered via transurethral ultrasound-guided injection: fibroblasts mixed with collagen are injected into the urethral submucosa to address mucosal atrophy, while myoblasts are injected directly into the rhabdosphincter to reconstruct muscle and repair morphological and functional defects. By leveraging the body's own regenerative capacity, Urocell aims to restore sphincter muscle function. It has completed Phase IIb clinical trials in Europe and is in preparation for Phase III development.
