Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Urocortin 3 is a 38-41 amino acid peptide belonging to the corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) family. It functions as a highly selective agonist for the CRF type 2 receptor (CRFR2). UCN3 plays important roles in glucose metabolism by stimulating insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells, particularly under high glucose conditions. It also has significant cardiovascular effects, including vasodilation, reduced peripheral vascular resistance, and increased cardiac output. These properties make it a potential therapeutic candidate for heart failure and metabolic disorders.
