Overview

Urofollitropin is a highly purified preparation of human follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) extracted from the urine of postmenopausal women. It consists of two non-covalently linked glycoprotein subunits (alpha and beta) and is used to treat infertility in women by stimulating ovarian follicular growth and development in those with FSH deficiency or undergoing assisted reproductive technologies such as in vitro fertilization (IVF). Urofollitropin acts by mimicking endogenous FSH to promote the maturation of ovarian follicles. It is typically administered via subcutaneous or intramuscular injection and often used alongside human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) to induce ovulation[1][2][3][4][5].
