Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Uromune Autovacuna is an individualized bacterial autovaccine developed and marketed by Laboratorios Q Pharma for the prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections (rUTIs). Unlike standardized polyvalent vaccines, this autovaccine is custom-manufactured for each patient using specific bacterial strains isolated from their own clinical samples, typically urine. The preparation consists of inactivated whole-cell bacteria administered sublingually to induce a mucosal immune response. By targeting the mucosal-associated lymphoid tissue (MALT), the vaccine stimulates the production of secretory IgA and activates local cellular immunity, thereby preventing the adherence and colonization of uropathogens in the bladder and urinary tract. It is primarily used in patients who suffer from frequent infections that are resistant to conventional antibiotic prophylaxis or where a personalized immunological approach is preferred.
