Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Urotol is a competitive muscarinic receptor antagonist containing tolterodine as the active ingredient. Developed by R-Pharm and manufactured by Zentiva, it is specifically indicated for the treatment of overactive bladder (OAB) symptoms, including urinary frequency, urgency, and urge incontinence. The drug works by blocking muscarinic cholinoreceptors (primarily M1 and M3 subtypes) in the detrusor muscle of the urinary bladder, which reduces the pressure of bladder contractions and increases bladder capacity. It is approved for use in the Russian Federation and has been utilized as a reference comparator in clinical trials for other OAB treatments like imidafenacin.
