Overview
Ursolic acid liposomes (UAL) is a liposomal formulation of ursolic acid, a naturally occurring pentacyclic triterpenoid with potential antineoplastic, anti-inflammatory, and apoptotic activities. Ursolic acid is isolated from various plants and herbs, but its clinical utility is limited by poor water solubility and low bioavailability. Encapsulating ursolic acid in liposomes overcomes these limitations, improving its solubility, pharmacokinetic profile, and tumor-targeting efficiency. In clinical trials, ursolic acid liposomes have been evaluated for the treatment of advanced solid tumors refractory to standard therapies.
