SUVN-D4010 (usmarapride) is a potent, selective, brain-penetrant and orally active small molecule that acts as a partial agonist of the serotonin 4 receptor (5-HT4 receptor). It is being developed for the treatment of cognitive dysfunction associated with Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia. Preclinical studies demonstrated robust efficacy in cognition models and suggested disease-modifying potential by increasing neuroprotective soluble amyloid precursor protein alpha levels. The drug has completed phase 1 clinical trials in healthy adults in the United States under an IND application; it was found to be safe and well tolerated with linear pharmacokinetics. Suven Life Sciences is developing this compound as part of its CNS pipeline targeting unmet needs in neurodegenerative disorders[1][2][3][6][7].
