ustekinumab

Ustekinumab is a fully human IgG1κ monoclonal antibody that targets the p40 subunit shared by interleukin 12 (IL-12) and interleukin 23 (IL-23), two cytokines involved in immune system regulation and inflammatory processes. By binding to this subunit, ustekinumab prevents IL-12 and IL-23 from activating their receptor (IL 12Rβ1) on immune cells, thereby inhibiting the Th1 and Th17 pathways central to the pathogenesis of several autoimmune diseases. Ustekinumab is indicated for moderate to severe plaque psoriasis in adults and children aged six years or older, active psoriatic arthritis in adults and children aged six years or older, moderately to severely active Crohn’s disease in adults, and moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis in adults. It is administered via intravenous infusion or subcutaneous injection[1][3][6][10].
